Common Questions

What You Need to Know Before the Call

What does a contingency fee mean?

You pay MEG Law nothing upfront. No retainer, no hourly fees, no filing costs out of pocket. We earn a percentage of what we recover on your behalf. If we don't recover, you owe us nothing.

How do I know if TDI or NSA applies to my claim?

It depends on whether the patient's health plan is fully insured (regulated by TDI) or self-insured (regulated by federal ERISA law). We assess this on the first call at no cost to you.

What information should I bring to the consultation?

The more you have, the better: the payer's name and plan type, the date of service, billed amount, amount paid (if any), and the reason for denial or underpayment. But don't wait if you don't have everything. We can guide you through the rest.

How long does the IDR process take?

TDI Chapter 1467 disputes typically run several months from initiation to award. NSA IDR timelines are set by federal regulation. We'll give you a realistic timeline estimate during your consultation based on your specific claim.

Do you handle single claims or portfolios?

Both. We work with individual providers on single high-value claims and with surgical groups, ASCs, and specialty practices on portfolios of claims. Batch disputes can often be pursued more efficiently with a coordinated strategy.

Is there a minimum claim value to work with you?

We generally focus on claims where the disputed amount justifies the time and cost of arbitration. This is something we assess claim by claim. If a single claim is too small, we may be able to aggregate it with others to make the process worthwhile.
